“By your stumbling, the world is perfected.”
—Sri Aurobindo

I'm a Boston-based yoga instructor whose specialties include Alignment-oriented yoga, Gentle yoga, and Restorative yoga. With thoughtful sequencing and precise verbal cues, I help students understand the architecture of each pose as it manifests in their own bodies. In both my classes and private sessions, I aim to create a warm and inclusive environment, where curiosity, honesty, and experimentation come out to play while things like perfectionism and negative self-talk take a nice, long nap. I've been practicing yoga for twenty-five years. During that time, my practice has helped me raise two children, publish four books of creative nonfiction, and manage the lingering after-effects childhood trauma. I've found that a little time on the mat every day gives me more patience, cheerfulness, energy, and clarity. I teach in order to help my students access similar benefits. I received both my 200-hour and 300-hour trainings at Down Under School of Yoga. Having practiced the dynamic, breath-count-based system of yoga known as Ashtanga (based on the teachings of K. Pattabi Jois) for many years, as I've grown older, I've transitioned my personal practice to the slower and more alignment-oriented tradition of Iyengar (based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar). I am currently studying with my mentor, senior teacher Rosie Richardson, to become a Level One certified instructor in that method. Outside of yoga, I'm a writer. You can find information about my books, essays, and short stories at kimadrian.com I teach Gentle yoga on Tuesday mornings at Boston Yoga Union, and assist Rosie Richardson's Back Care class at Down Under Yoga (Brookline location) on Fridays at noon. I offer private and semi-private lessons by appointment. Please contact me to inquire about prices, offerings, and logistics. EMAIL: , INSTAGRAM: @magpie_yoga
